Position Summary
Position assists investigators as coordinator of a basic to moderately complex clinical research study in the Division of Genetics; may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community and the study participants; responsible for managing and recording all phases of study protocol as required by sponsoring agency to ensure compliance. This position also involves assisting with genetics counseling tasks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Routinelyimplementsandmanagesallphases of study/protocol;ensurescompliancewithprotocolguidelinesandrequirementsof regulatoryagencies;establishesrecord-keepingsystems; makesassessmentsanddeterminationsofparticipantsâ™progressinthestudy; analyzes,investigates,andreportsadverseevents; makesdecisions as when to notifyphysiciansofissues, when to stopparticipant inclusion,and/or to makeand/or recommendadjustment of theprotocolofparticular participants;  resolvesIRB/protocolmanagementissues and recommendscorrectiveaction as appropriate;serves as liaisonwith funding or sponsoringagency.
Routinely recruits andenrollsstudyparticipants;makesand/orparticipatesinmakingdeterminationsofeligibilitybased on diagnosticcriteriaand/orobservations/analysisinparticipant interviews;developsinformedconsentpackets for studyparticipantsandconfers withparticipants to explain purpose ofstudyandobtaincompletedinformedconsent packets; Â explainsdiagnosticproceduresandtreatmentplans to addressparticipant/familyconcerns;administers/scorestestsand/or evaluatesalllabandclinical assessmentstoensurethey are completedin a timelymanner.
Routinelyensurestimelycompletionofallprotocolrequirements(assessment, labtesting, proceduresandtreatments) to includescheduling  andfacilitating the patientâ™stimelycompletionofprotocolrequirements;evaluates and interpretscollectedclinical data in conjunctionwith PI as appropriate;prepares oral or writtenpresentations or reportsandanalysessetting forth progresstrendsandprovidesrecommendations or conclusionsof the same.
Completes patient information on lab requisition forms for genetic testing. Prints and sends clinical information for laboratory testing. Coordinates and provides instructions for patient lab draws. Contacts laboratories with general inquiries such as status of patient results.Â
Contacts insurance companies to facilitate genetic test coverage and assists in the writing of letters of medical necessity. Submits and tracks benefits investigations for genetic testing and communicates outcomes with families.Â
Assists the genetic counselors with triaging incoming requests from patients and providers as well as coordinating patient appointments and testing.Â
Contacts patients for follow up information, general inquiries as well as routine normal test results.
Performsotherdutiesincidental to the workdescribedherein.
A combination of college education and relevant experience equaling four years may substitute for this requirement.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements). Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.

Salary Range
$47,400.00 - $71,200.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
