Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow for NJMS-Microbiology. The departments goal is to characterize putative ER-shaping proteins of Plasmodium, their functions in the parasite's cell biology and their effect on parasite virulence. We also aim to develop inhibitors of parasite kinases as drugs for malaria prophylaxis. This role will use tools of molecular genetics (gene knockouts, conditional protein depletion, CRISPR editing), imaging (confocal and super- resolution microscopy), proteomics in P. berghei and P. falciparum, protein expression, enzyme activity assays and parasite growth assays.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
