The Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Cincinnati has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow supported by NCI R01 to study transcriptional and epigenetic gene regulation in breast cancer metastasis and therapeutic resistance. The Zhang laboratory (https://med.uc.edu/zhanglab) currently focuses on elucidating the role and molecular mechanisms of gene- and tissue-specific transcriptional cofactors and small RNAs in liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and the above processes [Estrogen Receptor and Breast Cancer ? Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Discovery of ER (1st ed, 2019, Springer Nature), Cell Reports (2021) 34(10):108822, Dev Cell (2021)56(3):341, Cancer Drug Resist 2022; 5(2): 498]. We are using a combination of biochemical, molecular, genomic, and mouse genetic (conditional knockout, mutant knockin, and overexpression) approaches. We are also currently developing RNA-based nano-therapeutics to target these cofactors and small RNAs to overcome the therapeutic resistance of human breast cancer.

Required Education
Doctoral Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or a related field.
Required Experience
In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
May require experience with specialized software programs.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Prior experience with protein and RNA biochemistry, LLPS, Splicing or DNA repair is a plus.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
