The Department of Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of sequence alignment and bioinformatic analysis of genome-wide sequencing data, machine and deep learning computational approaches to genetic and proteomic biomarker identification, identification and quantification of repetitive DNA sequences, RNA-Seq data processing and data analysis, generation of figures and descriptions for grant applications and manuscripts, and other responsibilities as needed. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Responsibilities may include finding DNA break sites or the difficult to replicate sites in human and mouse genome upon treatment with different targeted cancer therapeutics, like ATR inhibitors.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further her/his training in machine and deep learning approaches, gain experience in moving computational projects to publications, and gain experience in the application of biomarker identification for drug development and testing. In addition, the successful applicant will prepare manuscripts and participate in the grant preparation process, present research findings in national and international meetings, assist junior scientists, and participate in career trainings offered by the University of Pennsylvania.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience
