The Division of Public Health Sciences (PHS) of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) welcomes applications for the Program Head position in our Biostatistics Program. Applicants at the Associate Professor and Professor academic ranks with a PhD or equivalent are encouraged to apply. We seek individuals with sustained records of research and funding, and who are excited about the opportunity to lead a dynamic biostatistics research program within an exceptionally rich cancer research ecosystem.
The Biostatistics Program encompasses 28 faculty with primary or joint positions, 7 staff scientists (similar to research track faculty in universities), 27 affiliate faculty from diverse disciplines, 35 staff members, and more than 60 trainees (post docs or students). It is the home of multiple coordinating centers in areas such as cancer prevention, early detection, and clinical trials. Faculty research areas include, but are not limited to, precision oncology, mobile health studies, electronic health records, clinical trial design, biomarker evaluation, diagnostic testing, survival analysis, causal inference, single cell and spatial transcriptomics, statistical genetics, and microbiome data analysis.
The Biostatistics Program is part of the Fred Hutch’s Division of Public Health Sciences, which houses a portfolio of population health research programs including cancer prevention and survivorship, epidemiology, computational biology and translational research.

Responsibilities
The Program Head will be the primary liaison between program faculty, division leadership, and the Fred Hutch scientific community. They will work closely with member faculty to create a vision and set strategic directions for the program. They will mentor and support junior investigators and foster their career development. They will identify opportunities for high-impact research initiatives that will generate a robust and well-funded research portfolio and will help to grow the program. They will elevate the profile of the program and its associations with national and international statistical and oncology research organizations.
