$10,000.00 Signing Bonus and Relocation Stipend, signing incentives Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Diagnostic Laboratory Team Leader (DLTL), whom will report to the Manager of our VUMC Diagnostic Clinical Genomics laboratories, and whom will have responsibility for Supervising efficient integration and management of the team and operations to properly provide laboratory services. The DLTL defines performance standards and manages operations to support consistent outcomes which meet or exceed quality standards. The DLTL plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in testing and implements new technology. In support of the MLS programs, the DLTL enables staff to serve as instructors for the primary training of the MLS students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -Training/education/competency/compliance maintenance of team members -Ensuring inspection readiness and regulatory compliance for inspections (CAP accreditation, CLIA, State Licensure, etc.) -Coordinate proficiency testing (internal/external) challenges -Develop/revise SOPs and workflows related to the wet and dry laboratory -Assist finance team in resolving billing challenges (pre-authorization/workques/financial clearance) -Technical resource in the absence of the Medical Director or Manager -Fill In as needed on the bench with staffing/scheduling challenges, or as workload requires -Spearhead new test (panel) development for in house testing (mitigate send outs) -Lead various daily, weekly, monthly internal and external meetings -Serve as liaison for 3rd party bioinformatics and software entities essential for lab functionality -Inventory ordering, tracking, cost containment and assist in annual budgeting -DYAD partner for section Medical Director -Real time data aggregation to evaluate ordering trends and ensuring TATs are met -Revenue reconciliation and timekeeper responsibilities
Position Qualifications Preferred: -Leadership experience in a clinical laboratory -Direct experience performing NGS testing in a clinical laboratory. -MS or PhD degree in Human Genetics, or Biological Sciences -Exposure to clinical variant interpretation writing, and familiarity with human mutation databases, genome -browsers, and HGVS nomenclature -Experience utilizing applications which are used for the analysis of genomic databases (bioinformatics and -other statistical tools) -Experience or interest in classification of somatic or germline variants
