Position Summary The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine is seeking an outstanding candidate for the tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor (RT) rank.
UIC Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences is a top research and clinical care institute in the nation. The Department is currently hosting multiple vision focused research labs and was ranked #9 nationwide in NIH funding by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The research infrastructure is supported by an NEI Core Grant for Vision Research. Resources include outstanding core facilities for in vitro/in vivo imaging, DNA/RNA sequencing and genomics, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, proteomics, animal handling and housing, structural analyses and automated screening.
Duties & Responsibilities
Applicant should be a creative and collaborative scientist pursuing fundamental/translational aspects of visual science research using state-of-the-art approaches. Their focus on any aspects of eye-related research may involve use of genomics, molecular genetics, cell (including stem cell) biology, immunology, imaging, gene or drug delivery, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics or animal models. The ideal applicant is expected to have an established research program with extramural funding and a strong publication record, and should be committed to mentoring students and fellows.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications Doctorate degree in biomedical sciences or medicine and relevant postdoctoral experience required.
