The Department of Preventive Medicine, Division of Biostatistics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Responsibilities include statistical collaboration in the field of cancer research and cancer clinical trials, and biostatistical methodology development related to collaborative work. Collaborative research will be conducted within the Quantitative Data Sciences Core (QDSC) at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University, a Cancer Center shared resource that provides expertise in biostatistics, bioinformatics and clinical informatics for cancer clinical trials and other clinical, basic and population sciences cancer studies. The faculty member will provide statistical leadership for clinical trials and other high-impact cancer studies, participate in grant development and grant-funded studies, supervise Master’s level statistical analysts and mentor junior faculty, and will have an opportunity to serve as QDSC Associate Director for Biostatistics. Applicants with a track record of successful collaboration in cancer research who are also interested in development of statistical methodology for innovative clinical trial design, precision oncology, real world data, high throughput ‘omics data, or experience in implementation science or behavioral studies and are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities will be one quarter-long course per year in year in the Master of Science in Biostatistics or the Health Sciences Integrated Program (HSIP) PhD in Biostatistics programs, with an opportunity to serve as thesis advisor for MS and PhD students.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics, experience and interest in collaborating with bio-medical investigators in cancer research, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams. Academic primary appointment will be in the Division of Biostatistics, Department of Preventive Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. This full-time faculty position carries the title Associate or Full Professor and is part of the Team Scientist faculty track. The Department of Preventive Medicine’s Division of Biostatistics consists of more than 20 faculty biostatisticians who provide a collegial environment. As part of general faculty responsibilities, participation in department meetings as well as departmental, school and university-wide committees is expected. Participation in scientific meetings and scholarly activities to build national and international reputation are encouraged and expected.
