Job Description: What We Are Looking For:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Mitochondria and Mechanobiology Laboratory at Baylor University, Waco, Texas. The area of investigation includes studies in molecular medicine, cell metabolism, and extracellular vesicle-based biomarker discovery projects in cardiovascular disease and neurodegeneration. Current projects focus on the molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial remodeling and metabolic reprogramming in vascular endothelium in response to fluid shear stress and proteomic characterization of circulating extracellular vesicles as potential biomarkers for mTBI in cerebrovascular disruption. A wide range of multidisciplinary approaches is used, including whole animal cardiovascular and metabolic disease modeling, advanced imaging techniques, -omics techniques, genetic/molecular biology strategies, and human cell culture models in highly controlled physiological environments. The lab is located in a newly renovated state-of-the-art research facility at Baylor University. These facilities, coupled with the intellectual surroundings of other experts in this field, provide a rich environment for successful project completion and career advancement.
What We Are Looking For:
The successful candidate should be able to work independently and be motivated to learn and develop new experimental approaches. The ideal candidates must have a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular physiology, or biomedical science and have cell/molecular biology and biochemistry expertise. Prior experience in mouse handling, cell culture, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy, extracellular vesicle analyses, mitochondrial function assays, and standard biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as gene manipulation/transfer and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression is preferred.
