The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Technician A to join our team in a full-time position to work within the division of Molecular Genetics. This position will provide research assistance for a study investigating molecular genetics of weight regulation. The qualified candidate will work closely with all team members and the other members of the Division of Molecular Genetics. S/He will work on basic molecular genetics bench work including DNA extraction, RT-PCR, sanger sequencing, western blot, as well as participate in undertaking animal studies. S/He may be involved in therapeutics studies in animals.

Perform basic molecular genetics bench work including DNA extraction, RT-PCR, sanger sequencing, and western blot.
Participate in undertaking animal studies including measurement of weight, length, body composition and tests for glucose tolerance. Maybe involved in therapeutics studies in animals.
Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Two years of college or a completed A.A program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.
One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/ or experience.
Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized, with great attention to details.
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Basic computer skills and be able to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
