This is a contract position that ends one year from date of hire.

Under direct supervision, applies professional bioinformatics concepts and computational procedures to complete small projects or portions of projects. Works on assignments of limited scope and complexity. Follows standard programming procedures to analyze situations and data from which answers can be readily obtained.

The bioinformatics programmer will participate in the analysis of data generated from in vitro and in vivo animal experiments. These data will be generated from genomic sequencing, metabolomic analyses, transcriptomic and proteomic profiling of biological samples derived from our experiments. Specifically, the project involves the exposure of mice to low and high fiber diet interventions, followed by lung injury and examination of the nature and mechanistic underpinnings of this injury. The job description includes being able to analyze 16S sequencing, whole genome sequencing, whole transcriptome sequencing/RNAseq, ATAC seq, and other large data sets with the goal of generating informative data analyses and figures for presentations and manuscripts. The applicant will either have some of these basic skills at the start of the position or will be provided with training for how to complete these tasks after which they will be able to perform these (with guidance from the PI) on their own.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
