Department Overview

The Xia lab develops bioinformatics tools for next-generation sequencing data analysis and Machine Learning algorithms for large-scale biomedical data interpretation. Current research interests are single-cell sequencing data analysis, machine learning for big data analysis and Omics data mining in cancer immunotherapy. Previous trainees in our lab have obtained bioinformatics jobs at top biopharmaceutical companies like Bristol-Myers Squibb and Genentech.

We are looking for postdoctoral scholars who are passionate about data-driven novel biological discoveries from integrative data analysis. Our goal is to design and apply novel analysis tools and pipelines to cancer omics data to understand and cure cancer. Previous experience in cancer and immunology research, omic data analysis and machine learning will be evaluated positively. Previous experience in data analysis using R packages is also a major plus.

Function/Duties of Position

• Bioinformatics tool Development (50%)

• Collaborative omics analysis (40%)

• Dissemination and Outreach (10%)

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in relevant field

• At least one first-author paper in biological data analysis.

• Demonstrated interests in programming or cancer biology or genetics or immunology or mathematics or engineering.

Additional Details

Work is generally 40 hours/week or more as needed. Travel may be necessary on occasion. Work includes group and team meetings where staff must effectively communicate progress on assigned projects.

Personnel will need to sit in a shared office environment daily while utilizing computer equipment.
