Our laboratory focuses on resistance to molecularly targeted therapies in solid tumors. The primary goal is to understand the molecular basis of sensitivity and resistance to KRAS inhibition in lung, pancreatic and colorectal cancer. Our research includes human models of cancer, and work with primary tissues from cancer patients. We are seeking a Research Specialist who requires experience in basic laboratory techniques in biochemistry, molecular biology and tissue culture and an ability to perform assay development independently.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Develops experimental design and has primary responsibility for planning, implementation, evaluation and interpretation results.
The design process may be in collaboration with the PI and with the clinical collaborators.
Compiles, analyzes, and interprets research data using various computer software applications.
Conducts library research and participates in editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
Oversees and assures laboratory compliance with regulatory requirements and JHU standards, policies and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
One year laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
Master's degree, with related graduate research, may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Prefer 2+ years of experience with ability to perform assay development for a molecular biology laboratory specializing in epigenetic work. This may include PCR, real-time PCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, protein work and Western blots, CRISPR knock out or knock in techniques, subcloning, flow cytometry and immune cell analysis, .generation of patient derived xenografts and cell lines, and animal studies.
