Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School. Our long-term goal is to identify potential novel drug targets for preventing malaria infection. We focus on kinase signaling pathways in Plasmodium, particularly those that function during liver infection. We are investigating the activity of small molecule kinase inhibitors against asexual blood stages and sporozoites in tissue culture and animal models of infection. Candidates should have peer-reviewed publications, training in tissue-culture, protein purification and/or biochemistry. A strong work-ethic, organizational skills and ability to work independently is expected. Although previous experience with animal handling is not a requirement, the successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in our animal studies after an initial training period.
