Cancer incidence and mortality are generally higher in males than in females, but its underlying biology remains elusive. Bladder cancer is the poster child of cancer sex differences, having male-to-female risk ratios ranking 1st in mortality and 2nd in incidence. Our lab specializes in using cutting edge -omics technologies, a wide range of innovative animal cancer models, and organoids to elucidate the biological mechanisms of sex differences in bladder cancer; we recently published several works that pioneer new concepts on sex as a biological variable in cancers (DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.aar5598; DOI: 10.1126/sciimmunol.abq2630).
We are inviting talented and interested candidates to join our scientific endeavor at the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Institute of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles—the new home of a well-established research program that first began at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Ongoing projects are examining the effects of genetics, epigenetics, immunity and microbiota on the sex and gender disparities in bladder cancer. We also have projects in benign urologic diseases such as bladder regeneration/repair. Successful candidates will have opportunities to hone research, critical thinking, scientific writing, and leadership skills, while taking part in leading a new and budding field of cancer research. This position will also provide incredible opportunities to work on translational disease models with the support of talented clinicians and researchers specializing in cancer biology, epigenome, metabolism, aging, tumor microenvironment, etc.
The Li Lab is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Scientist who can work independently while maintaining close collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists. The successful candidate must be able to:
make significant contributions to project development, experimental design, data collection and interpretation,
present findings within and outside the lab including departmental and national meetings,
first author and co-author original research manuscripts. Technical expertise in epigenetics, metabolism, immunity, and/or aging is preferred.

Providing healthcare for more than 100 years, Cedars-Sinai has evolved into one of the most dynamic and highly renowned medical centers in the world. Along with caring for patients, Cedars-Sinai is a hub for biomedical research and a training center for future physicians and other healthcare professionals. This attracts exceptional talent to Cedars-Sinai, including world-renowned physician-scientists who seek a place where they can both conduct research and see patients--the ideal formula for discovery and its translation into cures. Our patients benefit from access to doctors at the top of their fields, and our researchers have an ideal community in which to study the impact of healthcare challenges, and reflect that knowledge in their research. The greater Los Angeles area in which Cedars-Sinai resides possesses unparalleled cultural and ethnic diversity which offers outstanding oppor...tunities for translational and clinical research and a dynamic environment for medical education.Although community based, Cedars-Sinai is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Cedars-Sinai has highly competitive graduate medical education programs in more than 50 specialty and subspecialty areas, a graduate program in biomedical sciences and translational medicine, a clinical scholars program directed towards junior physicians with aspirations to become clinical scientists, and post graduate training opportunities. There are more than 250 full-time faculty members at Cedars-Sinai. The voluntary medical staff, comprised of more than 2,200 specialty board-certified or board-qualified physicians, represent all of the specialties and subspecialties and collaborate with full-time medical staff in the teaching responsibilities of the graduate medical education programs.
