The Xin Zhou Lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is seeking a dedicated postdoctoral fellow to join our team (https://zhou-lab.org/). This exceptional opportunity is tailored for early-career researchers who have a strong interest in chemical biology, protein and antibody design, and immune engineering. Successful applicants will contribute to pioneering ideas that are redefining these fields.
At the Zhou lab, we prioritize fostering a nurturing, inclusive, diverse, and compassionate environment. Our focus is on the mentoring and development of emerging scientists.
Our postdoctoral fellow benefits from dual appointments as Research Fellows in both the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School and Cancer Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As members of these two departments and the Harvard Medical School community, the Zhou lab team has access to extensive resources and actively participates in a diverse range of seminars and events. The broad Harvard Medical School communities provide a highly stimulating research environment that cultivates collaboration, fosters innovation, and facilitates top-tier training for future biomedical scientists.
Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
Operating at the interface of biomolecular engineering and disease biology, the Zhou Lab is breaking new ground with innovative biotechnologies and biomedicine designs for complex diseases that have been traditionally challenging to address. Our research portfolio encompasses the development of innovative protein degraders targeting challenging human diseases such as non-small cell lung cancer, signaling reprogramming of chimeric antigen receptor T cells, and biosensing of disease environments to inform the design of advanced pro-drugs and pro-antibodies.
We are deeply invested in engineering versatile functional proteins that can distinguish and respond to various signals within a disease context, modify cancer and immune cell signaling, and offer powerful avenues for mammalian cell manipulation. We integrate concepts from chemical biology, synthetic biology, and protein design to develop the next generation of molecular biotechnologies, diagnostics, and therapeutics.
We have a postdoctoral position available for researchers who are interested in the following areas:
Engineering protein-based PROTACs or antibody-drug conjugates to target complex human diseases.
Designing allosteric protein switches to modulate immune responses.
Our ideal postdoctoral fellows will bring or be eager to acquire diverse skills in the following areas:??
Immunology
Chemical biology
Synthetic chemistry
Cancer biology
Cell therapy
Protein engineering
Computational biology??
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in chemistry, bioengineering, biology, immunology, or a related field by the start date.
Candidates are invited to send Dr. Xin Zhou (xin_zhou1@dfci.harvard.edu) a CV, a cover letter describing past research experiences and future research interests, and contact information of three references (preferably as a single PDF). We also welcome informal inquiries.
