Tenure Track Assistant Professor - 2 positions

Reproductive Biology and Molecular Basis of Animal and Human Health and Disease

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY is seeking two tenure-track Assistant Professors with active programs in one of two areas of fundamental research.

One recruit will be studying reproductive processes important for fertility and the development of healthy offspring. Investigators whose research has a translational component addressing infertility, animal conservation, or contraception, are strongly encouraged to apply. Topics of study may include but are not limited to pathways involved in ovarian or testes development, germ line formation, meiosis, recombination, gametogenesis, fertilization, embryo implantation and development, parturition, and endocrine control of these processes.

The second recruit will be studying an area of biomedical sciences, broadly defined, that aligns and synergizes with departmental interests in the molecular basis of animal and human health and disease. Work may be in one or more areas that include but are not limited to physiology, stem cell biology, metabolism, cardiovascular biology, reproduction, and neurobiology.

Successful candidates for both positions will be using genetic, genomic, epigenomic, molecular, cell biological, biochemical, or physiological approaches, including use of model, non-model, or domestic animal species. These twelve month appointments afford ample time for research, with teaching opportunities in the veterinary, graduate, and/or undergraduate curricula. Individuals with clinical activities may be candidates for joint appointments within the College of Veterinary Medicine or Weill Cornell Medicine (in New York City).

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

• Prior relevant work or industry experience.

• Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

• Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
