DENTAL RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION (DRA) AT TUSDM IS THE MAIN RESEARCH STRUCTURE FOR ALL BASIC SCIENCE AND CLINICAL RESEARCH PROJECTS AT THE DENTAL SCHOOL. DRA IS THE LIAISON TO THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PROVOST FOR RESEARCH, FINANCE, IRB, IACUC, CMS, BIOSAFETY AND ALL OTHER OFFICES RESPONSIBLE FOR ADMINISTERING RESEARCH ON THE TUFTS HEALTH SCIENCES CAMPUS. HOUSING SEVERAL RESEARCH LABS INCLUDING THE GAVEL CENTER FOR RESTORATIVE DENTAL RESEARCH WHICH IS ENDOWED FROM DR. J. MURRAY GAVEL, DRA AT TUSDM DEFINES AND EXECUTES THE RESEARCH GOALS AND MISSION OF TUFTS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE. This position will have an academic appointment in Comprehensive Care, and a dual-reporting structure to the Associate Dean for Research and the Chair of the Department of Comprehensive Care.
This position will be based in a TUSDM lab investigating the role of lacrimal and salivary gland myoepithelial cells and the oxytocin signaling pathway in dry eye and dry mouth disease. Other areas of research investigate the role of the extracellular matrix and metalloproteinases in regulating the stem cell niche in the lacrimal and salivary glands as well as investigate the potential use of mesenchymal stem cells to treat Sjögren's syndrome dry mouth and dry eye disease.
This faculty position will work with students in a mentorship capacity, sit on thesis committees for postdoctoral and postgraduate students, and will be responsible for designing protocols, writing proposals, analyzing data, interacting with external research sponsors, presenting results, and publishing scholarly articles; proficiency in written and verbal English is required.
We are looking for a detail-oriented research scientist with experience and demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Proficient in very broad range of wet laboratory skills, including gene expression profiling, regenerative, developmental, stem cell, molecular and cellular biology, and exceptionally dexterous in microinjection, micromanipulation and dissection. Hardworking team player possessing excellent communication and collaborative interpersonal skills. Creative, self-motivated, enthusiastic, strategic thinker and skillful planner who solves problems and achieves goals with perseverance.

Advanced training (MS or PhD)

Evidence of scholarly activities
Proven expertise in a variety of bio-scientific disciplines including regenerative,
developmental, stem cell, molecular & cellular biology with a solid publication record.
Proficient in computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.),
with excellent oral and written communication skills. Skilled also in Electronic Laboratory
Notebook (ELN) usage, project scheduling, data collection & management.
