Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL)-AgeLab, to work with research staff in support of naturalistic and simulated advanced driving technology research. Will create and maintain large datasets of mixed data (video and sensor) and work with annotators, automated tools, and computer vision applications to extract features in support of analytical efforts; write detailed documentation, codebooks, and data dictionaries; and assume responsibility for validating data and ensuring data quality. Responsibilities include data wrangling and processing using R and/or Python and SQL; working with various data types (images, videos, sequential signals, GPS) to develop structured datasets for input to modeling; assisting with the development, validation, QA, and maintenance of data and data acquisition systems; managing software systems for secure storage and access while providing data support for local researchers and remote sponsors; assisting with data annotation and related QA efforts; and performing other duties as requested. This position will provide opportunities to significantly expand existing skills/experience.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, bioinformatics, computer science, or similar technical field; two years' specialized lab experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate), including at least one with data wrangling; programming experience using Python and/or R; familiarity with Git or other version control systems; experience working with PostgreSQL and MongoDB or similar databases; meticulous attention to detail; and strong problem-solving, time-management, communication, and organization skills. Seek a team player who can manage multiple priorities and quickly learn new software programs or interfaces and troubleshoot technical problems. PREFERRED: experience working in a research environment, knowledge of and interest in working with driving-related data, and experience with cloud computing platforms. Job #22670
