The VanBuren Lab in the Department of Horticulture and Plant Resilience Institute at Michigan State University is looking to fill a fixed term Research Associate position to work on desiccation tolerance in plants. The VanBuren lab applies integrative systems level, evolutionary, and molecular approaches to understand the genetic basis of stress tolerance pathways in plants. The successful applicant is expected to utilize a broad range of modern approaches to answer fundamental and potentially applied research questions in model and crop systems.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientist with expertise in one or more of the following fields: genetics, genomics, computational biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or physiology. The successful applicant should also have strong writing and communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary research team.

Doctorate -Biological Sciences
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD in a field related to plant biology, genetics, molecular biology, genomics/bioinformatics, ecology, or a similar field.
Desired Qualifications
Expertise and proficiency in one or more of the following: genetics, genomics, computational biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or physiology. The successful applicant should have strong writing and communication skills and be able to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Experience in conducting greenhouse, growth chamber, or field experiments is also desired.
