The Manager, Oncology Infusion Pharmacy oversees the daily pharmacy operations of the Chestnut Hill infusion clinics to ensure high-quality patient care is provided in compliance with regulations, hospital policies and practices.

The job is fully onsite and the location is Chestnut Hill in Newton, MA.
The work hours are Monday - Friday, daytime.??
Sets the schedule for Pharmacy coverage for the Main Campus, Pediatrics, and Satellites. Tracks vacation requests and approves based on staff availability. Arranges coverage when employees call in with unexpected absences. Approves weekly payroll.
Assesses daily volume on infusion floors and arranges pharmacy / nursing teams. Rounds daily with Pharmacists to address any concerns they have or issues that arise.
Approves all off-label medication orders. Works with Finance to give clinical approval for medications that are not FDA approved.
Manages the desense unit that reviews how medications are administered to allergenic patients. Assesses feasibility of proposed administration for new medications.?? Works with nursing staff on continual process improvements in this area.
Conducts inventory control on controlled substances. Replenishes the ADM machines daily and works with Nurse Managers to resolve any narcotics discrepancies on the infusion floor.
Verifies that quality controls are being completed daily; identifies gaps and takes corrective action to remedy.
Regularly meets with Nurse Managers to review issues as they arise on the infusion floors. Participates on Pharmacy/Nurse committee that addresses and resolves patient care concerns.
Develops and implements efficient workflows within the pharmacy; works in conjunction with physicians or nurses when a new medication or procedure change is introduces.
Stays current with trends and developments in pharmacy practice.
Coordinates the training of staff new to the infusion floors.
Other duties as assigned, including attending meetings and participating in Institute wide committees representing Pharmacy.
Performs duties of the Infusion Pharmacist as needed to provide coverage for illness, meetings, staff vacations and during periods of peak volume.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The manager of the Infusion Pharmacy directly supervises Pharmacists.?? Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to participation in the selection / hiring process, orienting and training staff and performance management.
PATIENT CONTACT:
The manager of Infusion Pharmacy may provide consultative medication services in a clinical setting to adult patients on an as needed basis.

Bachelor???s Degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
7 -10 years of hospital pharmacy experience, 4 years of oncology pharmacy experience, and 3 years in a supervisory role
Doctorate of Pharmacy and successful completion of an accredited pharmacy leadership residency program may substitute for experience requirement.
Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Certification in a related pharmacy specialty, or an advanced degree related to a specialty practice area preferred.
