The Beltran Lab is focused on understanding mechanisms of treatment resistance in advanced prostate cancer through integration of clinical and molecular features of patients combined with preclinical modeling. We have used genomics and epigenomics to elucidate the molecular mechanisms driving lineage plasticity and evolution towards an androgen indifferent state. We are developing tissue and circulating biomarkers and novel therapeutic strategies for clinical translation. The individual will engage in experiments that utilize molecular biology techniques such as cell culture methods, recombinant DNA and other cell biology assays (Western blots, immunoprecipitation, etc.). There will be opportunities to learn and assist in computational methods of analysis. No supervisory responsibilities and will get detailed instructions on all work.
BS in biological sciences, biochemical, chemistry or equivalent.
1-2 years of research experience (in vitro and mouse) preferred (not required).
Must be willing and eager to work with mouse models; techniques will be taught by colleagues.
Must be willing to learn and master molecular biology techniques; techniques will be taught by post-doctoral fellows.
LAT certification preferred.
After receiving specific training, this position will be required to occasionally work in the ABSL-2/3 suite treating and monitoring study animals.
All aspects of this position expose personnel to animal fur and dander, which may be hazardous to those with allergic conditions. Disinfectants, detergents and soaps are used in the daily sanitation assignments.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
