Position Summary:

• Primer and probe design, assay multiplexing, bioinformatic investigation and in silico modeling of primer and probe sequences, optimizing sample processing using novel chemistries, buffers, and mechanical separation approaches, designing bioinformatic pipelines for data interpretation and reporting of next generation sequencing results.
• Performs analytic analysis and trouble shoots innovative new TB assays as part of the FEND diagnostic program.
• Assists in planning, direction, and conduct of the FEND TB analytic core.
• Effectively communicates with academic and commercial partners on the performance of relevant TB assays.
• Manage and troubleshoot instruments and will perform a variety of research experiences related to bacterial mutation and detection.
• Conducts experiments in persistence models of M. tuberculosis.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Doctoral Degree in relevant science.

• Occasional lifting of 20 pounds to a height of 6½ feet.

Special Conditions:

• Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when necessary to meet deadlines.
• Must be willing to work with small and large animals.
