Position Summary:
Under general direction, incumbent is responsible for performing academic personnel functions for the departments of Biological Chemistry, Anatomy & Neurobiology, and Microbiology & Molecular Genetics. Analyzes proposed academic actions to determine potential problems or complications. Serves as back-up for other personnel analyst(s), with a working knowledge of all academic staff issues including collective bargaining and labor relations.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies. Understands how the correct use of HCM and related systems impacts HR data integrity. Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills. Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems. Understands University policies, procedures, labor contracts, and federal and state employment laws and regulations. Demonstrated foundational knowledge of academic personnel (and related HR) policies and practices, compliance requirements, and risk implications of decisions for Senate and non-Senate academic titles in teaching, research, administration, and program development and coordination, both in union and non-union work environments. Understands types of visas and related policies; refers to appropriate experts for additional guidance. Understands compliance requirements to ensure proper leave submissions and documentation Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Understands components of the academic review process, including current review documents for represented and non-represented employees. Understands the conditions that enable fair and equitable hiring practices. Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served. KSA 14 Understands basic benefits eligibility and related benefits packages; refers questions/inquiries to appropriate campus resources. Understands contract and policy provision to answer basic employee timekeeping and pay questions. Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management.
