The candidate will be working independently with minimal supervision and work with the research team members in the Human Phenotyping laboratory and the Human Chamber calorimetry laboratory of the New York Nutrition Obesity Research Center and with team members across disciplines involved in the POWERS project and other projects being conducted and pending.
The candidate will participate in the clinical coordination of the POWERS project under Dr. Dympna Gallagher's direction. Duties will include: screening, consenting, scheduling, implementation of data collection, data management strategies, and the accuracy and completeness of data; liaising with the POWERS Recruiter; the candidate will be certified to obtain informed consent; ensuring that data from the various procedures (questionnaires, physical and biological measures, and imaging) are complete and accurately entered by research assistant staff into the data management system; interacting with the study data manager for identification of missing data and correction of errors; exposure to implementation of the training module to familiarize participants with accelerometer, weight scale and Fitbit monitor and develop plans for charging and syncing. The candidate will serve as a back-up interventionist for the CUIMC clinical site.
The candidate will serve on the Consortium' Recruitment and Retention committee and will be an integral member of the POWERS Research Consortium. S/He will attend NIH Steering meetings, national conferences to present study findings, submit grants for pilot funding for his/her own independent research. S/He will attend educational symposia and seminars for purpose of continual education, career development and enhancement.
The candidate will participate in the coordination of studies that require services involving the human calorimeters, under the Human Phenotyping Core. The candidate will be responsible for instrument calibrations, calorimeter set-up in advance of each study, data quality control checks and dissemination of results to study PIs. The candidate will assist as required with data collection in the Body Composition Unit.
