Description of Work:
The Song Group in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking applications for a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral scholar in Computational Systems Biology. This 12-month (calendar year), special appointment will enhance nationwide technical leadership in computational biology and enable stronger collaboration with microbial ecologists and environmental scientists across campuses. The apportionment is 100% research. This position will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The position will develop metabolic models and microbial interaction networks for natural and synthetic communities and will predict their collective biochemical functions and responses to environmental perturbations. The postdoctoral investigator will collaborate with research teams at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, WA. Part of the research will also include computational analysis of microbiome data from the Nebraska Food for Health Center. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in metabolic network modeling, omics data integration, chemical reaction modeling, reactive-transport modeling, and/or data-driven modeling. The postdoctoral investigator will be responsible for helping meet project requirements and publishing papers in eminent peer-reviewed journals. The post-doctoral researcher will contribute to the integrated research land-grant Mission of the home unit and IANR, as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student recruitment and IANR science literacy.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Computer Science, or other related field.
Expertise in at least one of the programming languages, such as Matlab, Python, R and C.
