Job Summary:
Our laboratory uses sophisticated and state-of the art murine and tissue cultures models to detect immunopathogenesis of allograft dysfunction and rejection. Using contemporary research tools such as single cell transcriptomics as well as proteomics, intravital imaging, and multichannel flow cytometry, in combination with bioinformatics and computational biology, we identify clinically actionable mechanisms underlying tissue injury utilizing models highly relevant to human disease. We follow a team science approach and our research group includes senior investigators from the divisions of thoracic surgery, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, and immunology. We have developed high-throughout services within our group such as next generation sequencing. Our work is highlighted in our publications (Zhikun et al, Science Translational medicine 2017; Hsiao et al, JCI 2018; Reyfman et al, AJRCCM Epub ahead of print; Li et al, JCI 2018; Walter et al, AJRCCM 2018; Akbarpour M et al, JCI 2020; Yang W et al, AJCMB 2021; Kurihara C et al, JCI 2021)
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is a creative and an independent thinker. While experience in the techniques listed above is preferred, our lab provides all training for the new recruits.
Please note: Flexible work hours are important as some experiments require night time or weekend supervision— this scenario would be offset by appropriate time off.
Specific Responsibilities:
Independently plan, perform, and analyze data from animal, multi-parameter flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, and cell culture experiments
Work and communicate with internal and external research collaborators
To supervise research residents, students, and laboratory technicians working in the lab
To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research done in the lab as well as present findings at national and international meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or MD or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired skills in immunological and molecular techniques.
