A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. This candidate will direct NIH-R01 and NIH-T32 funded studies using in vitro and in vivo approaches for understanding mechanisms related to osteoblast differentiation and function, as well as effects from chronic kidney disease related factors. 

The Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health (ICMH) is one of the largest bone and muscle research groups in the world, creating an exciting, diverse atmosphere for collaborative and interactive translational research. 

The applicant should have ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research projects. Duties and responsibilities are to perform experiments for in vivo characterization of mouse models, as well as cell culture experiments. Techniques include using conditional, transgenic, and knockout mice for in vivo/ex vivo experiments, serum and tissue sample collection and analysis, flow cytometry, cell culture, CRISPR, single-cell RNA/ATACseq, qPCR, immunoblot, and immunohistochemistry.

Doctorate or terminal degree required. MD and/or PhD in Genetics, Molecular or Cell Biology, Physiology, or a related field. The candidate should be able to work independently, design and conduct experiments, and have effective oral and written communication skills. The candidates must be able to mentor graduate students, residents and/or fellows in basic and translational research. Prior experience or willingness to work with animal (mouse) models is necessary. Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and recombinant DNA techniques are also highly desirable.
