Position Announcement:
The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the Assistant Research Professor level. This is a scientist track non tenure position.
The Indiana University (IU)/Jackson Laboratory (JAX), University of Pittsburgh (PITT) Model Organism Development and Evaluation of Late-onset Alzheimer's Disease (IU/JAX/PITTMODEL-AD) Center is a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of translational Alzheimer's disease research, using cutting edge technology to develop, validate and disseminate new, precise animal models of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Center is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organized Scientist interested in working within an exciting and dynamic multidisciplinary team.
The Scientist will assist with the research conducted in the IU/JAX/PITTMODEL-AD Center at many levels. The incumbent will be expected to have a high degree of technical expertise, be proficient in the scientific techniques used in the lab, and will develop and maintain SOPs and train lab members in their use. The incumbent will also spend a proportion of time leading experiments and analyzing data, writing manuscripts, scientific reports, and disseminating information, and will be expected to play a role in guiding the scientific direction of the IU/JAX/PITTMODEL-AD including grant writing. The Scientist will interact with and help to oversee trainees, and will work in collaboration with other lab staff, postdoctoral fellows, students, and NIH staff.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate or terminal degree required. Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences with at least 5 year's experience in Neuroscience research. Three years postdoctoral training including experience in molecular and cellular analysis of brain tissue and experience in behavioral analysis of rodents.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience training students on lab procedures, equipment and safety.
Experience managing multiple research projects in a highly productive lab environment.
Must have a strong publication record including first author publications in high impact journals in the area of brain function.
Demonstrated knowledge of the utilization of animal research models and handling.
Advanced computer skills and software application .
Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize with an eye to consistently producing high-quality work and meeting deadlines in a demanding environment.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users.
Well-developed presentation skills with demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions and instruct others both in small and large groups in formal and informal settings.
Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports.
Sound knowledge of associated risks in a research environment and laboratory safety regulations
Ability to perform both standard and complex laboratory procedures with accuracy, precision and reliability.
Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with the ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems with a strong sense of accountability and initiative.
Strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Strong organizational skills in leading large, complex research studies.
Ability to work closely with a wide variety of investigators at multiple different sites.
