The Tavazoie lab is seeking a Staff Associate II to join our dynamic group in support of ongoing research in next-generation sequencing based proteomics technologies. The candidate would work closely with the principal investigator, research scientists, post docs, and graduate students in designing, carrying out, and coordinating research. Duties would be as follows:
Perform mammalian tissue culture for molecular biology experiments – 20%
Conduct mass-spec based proteomics experiments – 20%
Analyze and perform bioinformatics reviews of protein biochemistry – 20%
train undergraduate students, graduate students and Postdocs on lab and experimental procedures -10%.
Assist PI with equipment maintenance reviews and scheduling and procurement of new equipment as needed – 10%
Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field (Biochemistry, Proteomics and/or Biological Sciences) with two full years of post-college industry/academic research. Proficient in DNA/RNA molecular biology, protein biochemistry, proteomics, and next-generation sequencing. Exceptional organizational and time management skills that allows the incumbent to work on and support multiple projects across the lab's research agenda. Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train personnel and clearly communicate scientific objectives and project results. Exercise independent judgment in devising solutions to specific research or technical problems.
Master's degree preferred and can substitute for work experience.
