Applications are invited for a tenure track position in cardiovascular medicine in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. The academic rank will be commensurate with the credentials of the selected candidate. The successful candidate will join a strong faculty focused on the regulation of gene expression, epigenetics, development, mitochondria, aging, metabolism, oxidative stress, cell death differentiation, and signal transduction pathways in normal and diseased tissue, with particular emphasis on cardiovascular disease, cancer, and the application of stem cells and gene therapy for regenerative and molecular medicine. Approaches include animal models of cardiac disease, cutting-edge technologies in cell biology, molecular biology, molecular genetics, genomics, and proteomics, and system biology and bioinformatics. The department has access to exceptional laboratory and animal facilities, equipment, and computational services, as well as to shared, state-of-the-art, core research facilities providing transgenic, molecular, genomic, proteomic, microscopic, flow cytometry, and biostatistics/bioinformatics support.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Qualifications include a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree with relevant postdoctoral research training and a record of independent research in cardiovascular medicine funded by a national organization. Candidates with a commitment to medical student, graduate and postdoctoral education are preferred.
