Postdoctoral position in research in myeloma bone disease. Position is currently available. The multiple myeloma bone disease group, under the direction of Drs A. Suvannasankha and G.D. Roodman, has extensive experience studying the bone pathology associated with multiple myeloma and solid tumor metastases to bone. The focus of the lab is to understand the pathophysiology of multiple myeloma bone marrow niches and to test improved therapeutic interventions.
The postdoctoral fellow will play a key role in the studies of bone cells ranging from in vitro to animal model studies, including studies of patients' cells at the genetic and cellular levels to determine the mechanisms leading to pathology in multiple myeloma. The ability to independently design, carry out and analyze experiments relevant to cancer:bone interactions is essential.
Duties or techniques may include but are not limited to the following:
* Cell sorting by flow cytometry or magnetic beads
* Cell culture
* Gene expression analysis including PCR
* Lentiviral transduction
* Generation of vectors and reagents
* Western blotting, cellular and protein analysis
* Animal models
* Drug sensitivity assays
* Maintaining accurate records of experiments and results
* Communicating with other team members and senior departmental members
* Presenting data locally and at national and international meetings
