Tufts University School of Dental Medicine seeks a Research Technician for an active basic research laboratory focused on the use of Tissue Engineering approaches for Craniomaxillofacial (CMF) mineralized tissue repair and regeneration. We use molecular, cellular and genetic approaches to analyze signal transduction pathways regulating mineralized dental and CMF tissue regeneration in 2D and 3D in vitro models, and in vivo rodent, rabbit and mini pig animal models.
What You'll Do
Under the close supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will conduct a variety of experiments following established procedures and protocols including sterile tissue culture, gel electrophoresis, histological and immunohistochemical analyses, and other laboratory techniques.
The Research Technician will keep detailed lab notes to record experimental procedures and results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor animals as needed. The Research Technician will conduct regular laboratory operations including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment and lab space cleanliness, and will follow all lab safety protocols. The Research Technician will perform other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in biological science with up to one year laboratory experience
This position requires strong organizational and time management skills along with the ability to work well independently under minimal supervision, and also with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures; experience working with tissue culture and animals is a plus.
Should have very strong written and verbal communication skills to help in drafting animal protocols, assisting students and research fellows and preparation and submission of scientific papers and grants
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
May work with and be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials, human/animal tissue and fluids, radiation
