SOFTWARE AND DATA JUNIOR ENGINEER, Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL)-AgeLab, to work with research staff and other software engineers in support of naturalistic and simulated advanced driving research on topics such as vehicle automation, active safety systems, distracted driving, vulnerable road users, and general driver behavior. Will be responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of an expanding data processing pipeline. Key responsibilities will be to primarily support the curation of video and tabular sensor data through efforts including ingestion, processing, annotation, and other approaches such as machine learning, statistical, or computer vision applications to expand attributes in support of analytical efforts. While the position requires a strong current skill set, it will provide opportunities to significantly expand existing skills and experience.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, bioinformatics, or similar technical field of study (e.g., data science, statistics); at least one year of experience with AI and machine learning algorithms or related coursework at the undergraduate or graduate university level; programming experience in a Linux environment using Python and/or C/C++; experience working with PostgreSQL and Mongo or similar databases for storing metadata; meticulous attention to detail; strong problem solving, time-management, communication, and organization skills; and ability to quickly learn new software programs or interfaces and to troubleshoot minor technical problems. Seek a team player who can manage multiple priorities. PREFERRED: familiarity with classic (edge detection, perspective transformation) and modern computer vision (e.g., object detection, scene segmentation, facial landmarks detection); experience with data analytics and relational database (PostgreSQL preferred); knowledge of and interest in working with driving-related data; and experience with cloud computing platforms.
