The University of Arizona Genetic Counseling Graduate Program is inviting applications for a Program Director. This position is housed within the University of Arizona Health Sciences and offers a unique opportunity to continue development of a relatively new program. The Program Director should meet all qualifications for the Program Director role as outlined in the Standards of Accreditation for Graduate Programs in Genetic Counseling as well as possess qualifications to hold a faculty position at the University of Arizona. Duties & Responsibilities:
The overall design, organization, coordination, administration, planning, development, assessment and continual review of the program, including curriculum, clinical and research components.
Maintaining accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC).
Ensuring that the program remains in compliance with all ACGC standards and University academic standards .
Collaborating with program leadership and faculty in all activities that relate directly to the program.
Establishing and monitoring annual program budget.
Providing direct supervision to administrative staff, and other program staff in their duties that relate directly to the program.
Serving as primary academic advisor for all enrolled students, including evaluation and monitoring of student progress in program.
Primary teaching responsibilities for several courses.
Providing orientation for new students and maintaining electronic student handbook.
Coordination and participation in recruitment and admission activities.
Maintaining communication with external stakeholders, including the Advisory Board.
Providing oversight for program communications, including program website.
Ability to manage human and fiscal resources.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree in the discipline of genetic counseling.
A current certification in genetic counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).
At least five years of experience as a certified genetic counselor, a minimum of three of which must be in a patient-facing role (clinic or research).
Experience as the course instructor/instructor of record for at least six credit hours of post-secondary education.
Completion of least 10 hours of training/coursework in curriculum design, assessment, evaluation, or principles of adult education within the last 10 years.
Fieldwork supervision experience for at least five genetic counseling graduate students, for a minimum of 500 total contact hours in the last 10 years.
Documented training or experience in leadership, professional development, management, scholarship, mentorship, academic advising and/or andragogy.
Ability to initiate and exercise independent judgment and decision-making and work comfortably with a diverse faculty, workforce, student body, and community partners.
