Job Summary The position is in the Farzan Laboratory in the Division of Infectious Diseases. The Farzan laboratory focuses on HIV vaccines and functional cures through B-cell engineering and gene therapy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: RA I duties plus:
Troubleshoot procedures if experimental results are unexpected or the quality of specimens is poor
May suggest alternative routine procedures to crosscheck own findings
Perform techniques typically required for the laboratory/study
Assist with planning specific research procedures and coordinating schedules of experiments and procedures. Develop and troubleshoot new techniques specific to the lab
Maintain accurate records of results and methodologies in a log of work performed
Compile and help analyze data, preparing charts, graphs, and results of studies
Demonstrate basic laboratory techniques to laboratory assistants and technicians, research fellows, residents, and students
Contribute to the team within and between departments and organizations
Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant work experience, required area of study - biology
Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth and experienced-based knowledge
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
