The Laboratory of Precision Environmental Health at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health invites highly motivated candidates to apply for the full-time position of Senior Staff Associate II. The laboratory currently investigates the molecular mechanisms and biomarkers that reflect reprogramming of health and disease trajectories in response to environmental chemical exposures. The laboratory research activities are specifically focused on epigenetics (DNA methylation, non-coding microRNAs), extracellular vesicle communications, and environmental mitochondriomics. The Senior Staff Associate II will report to the assistant lab director and will be responsible for carrying out project management, laboratory management, and working with both assistant lab director as well as other lab members to develop and optimize new molecular analysis techniques.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate ongoing research projects and collaborate with internal and external researchers to plan and develop project ideas.
Supervise and guide staff, technicians, students, and researchers.
Collect and analyze research data; create detailed documentation of experiments and research data.
Work with assistant lab director and postdocs to develop and optimize new lab assays.
Maintain sample inventories with detailed information on sample availability.
Perform quality control and maintain equipment, managing day-to-day operations in the lab.
Assist with additional requests as needed.
Minimum Degree Required:
Bachelor's degree in related field and at least 10 years of related research experience. Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize and prioritize within a changing environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot protocols.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to supervise staff members.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and work as team player.
Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with handling large scale studies with human samples preferred.
Hiring Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
