York College of The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Chemistry with an expertise in Data Science as applied to Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Science, broadly defined. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science, and an MS degree in Pharmaceutical Science and Business.
Expertise may come from fields including, but not limited to, Computational Chemistry, Docking, Structural Modeling, Cheminformatics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer-aided Drug Design, Computational Genomics and Pharmacokinetics, and Data Science in Chemical Education. The position to begin August 2023. In addition to Chemistry and/or Pharmaceutical Science, the successful candidate will actively work with other departments such as Biology, Physics and Math and Computer Sciences to develop collaborative research programs and build up an interdisciplinary data science curriculum. Teaching as Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and the ability to develop and maintain an active research program supported by external funding. Ph.D. degree in a Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. Post-doctoral experience is recommended. Also required is demonstrated scholarship or achievement, the ability to teach successfully in lower and upper-level classes in the department, and an ability to collaborate with others for the good of the institution.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
The position is hybrid and requires some on-site work and is subject to change.
The salary range for this appointment is $75,465 - $99,532.
