The LITE Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey provides long-term evaluation, support, and health education for the growing population of childhood cancer survivors.
The Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorder Research was established in 2021 with the support of the State of New Jersey and is led by Dr. Peter Cole, the Embrace Kids Endowed Chair and Professor of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. The program is housed within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, located in New Brunswick, NJ, and the state's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Its mission is to improve the lives of children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders through research, training and education, community engagement, and public policy advocacy. To highlight just a few examples, current members of the Center are at the forefront of their research fields: in the biology of DNA repair; in the development of innovative targeted therapies; in preventing treatment-related toxicities; and in understanding disparities in treatment outcomes.
