The Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences (DMCS) is seeking to hire a full time Academic Year, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor with an interest in building a research and teaching program focused on evolutionary processes in the ocean and their feedbacks on Earth Systems. Candidates should be using innovative methods to study the molecular, biochemical, and biodiversity in the ocean and their role in shaping oceanic food webs and evolutionary processes on Earth. This hire is part of cluster of excellence of faculty in the Earth systems and the responses to climate change spanning geological, ecological, and evolutionary sciences.
The successful candidate is expected to, 1.) Develop a cutting-edge, externally funded research program, 2.) Contribute to graduate/undergraduate courses in Biological Oceanography, Evolution of the Earth System, Environmental Bioinformatics, and/or Theoretical Ecology and Evolution, and 3.) Engage with outreach efforts aligned with Rutgers University-wide efforts to address climate induced changes and consequences for the trajectory of coastal ecosystems.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Competitive candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Oceanography, Molecular Evolution, Geoscience, or a related science/engineering disciplines, as well as demonstrated ability to conduct research, prepare competitive grant proposals, teach at graduate and undergraduate levels, and mentor students.
