The Jones lab in the Chemistry Department of NYU is looking for a talented post-doctoral associate to perform interdisciplinary work on determining RNA structure using heuristic statistical pattern recognition and machine learning.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated with an interest in working in Structural Biology and must hold a Ph.D. degree in a related field (Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Computer Science, Biomolecular Engineering, and/or Structural Biology or related fields). The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity with topics of RNA and/or protein structures and experience in using modern Python frameworks for deep learning (e.g., PyTorch). Experience with bioinformatic tools, such as biopython, pymol/VDW, is preferred. Experience with MD simulation experience is a plus but not required.
As our lab opens in 2023, this position will provide a unique opportunity for the candidate to work closely with the PI to shape and develop projects, with tremendous room for growth. The candidate will also help with mentorship and training graduate and undergraduate students.
The terms of employment, which would be a year, with a possibility of renewal, include a competitive salary and other benefits (including access to subsidized NYU housing in NYC). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning Dec 2022, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. The candidate would be fully supported by current funding, and the start date could be immediate if necessary.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 – $66,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
