A Research Associate (postdoctoral research) position is available in the Banzhaf Lab of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)/ the BEACON Center for the Study of Evolution at Michigan State University.
The research project focuses on:
Machine learning based protein engineering.
Evolutionary computing approaches to synthetic biology.
Developing innovative approaches for medical image processing.
The successful candidate will be expected to write code, conduct simulation experiments, collect and analyze data, give presentations about the research, write papers and provide progress reports to the Principal Investigator, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.
This position is a 12-month fixed term appointment. Renewal of position is based on funding and performance.

Doctorate -Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Candidates will have completed a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field.
Experience in computational biology, machine learning, and evolutionary computing, genetic programming in particular, is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills are essential.
