The Department of Marine & Coastal Sciences, in collaboration with PIs in various other departments are seeking two Postdoctoral Associates. The Postdoctoral Associates will conduct specialized research on a collaborative project on the origin, evolution and construction of proteins that transfer electrons (i.e. oxidoreductases). It is expected that they have expertise in several of the following areas including bioinorganic chemistry, structural biology, microbial genomics, biogeochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular evolution, and synthetic organic chemistry that will allow the design of interdisciplinary experiments to test origins of life questions. The Postdoctoral Associates will be expected to participate in the configuration and maintenance of instrumentation necessary for conduct of the project. It is expected that research will lead to publications. They will be expected to prepare manuscripts as well as contribute to the preparation of grant and fellowship applications. The best suited candidates will be also be expected to be highly collaborative and train and mentor undergraduates in scientific research projects.
