The newly established Rowan-Virtua School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences invites faculty applicants for the Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Transplantation, an emerging institute part of a recent affiliation between Rowan University and Virtua Health, which also includes the School of Medicine and School of Nursing and Health Professions. With over $200M investment, plans include the development of multiple institutes, the hiring of over 50 new faculty investigators, and new facilities and programs.
The School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences seeks applicants for open rank tenure-track faculty position(s) at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We seek candidates who have a Ph.D. in engineering, life sciences, or closely related disciplines, and/or a medical degree (D.O./Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O., M.D.).
Successful candidates are expected to develop, sustain, and lead an active, highly visible, externally-funded research program with outstanding scholarship and to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate, graduate, medical, and/or professional students. Clinician and clinician scientist/engineer candidates will also work with our affiliated partner, Virtua Health in aligned clinical practices to improve patient care and train the workforce of the future.
Applicants must demonstrate evidence of scholarly impact through publications or the potential to conduct pioneering research and to teach and mentor effectively. Candidates to be considered at the senior-level should have an outstanding leadership record in research and education at a University or in a clinical setting and demonstrated ability to obtain external funding, consistent with career stage. All applicants also seeking clinical practice opportunities must be board certified or board eligible.
The areas of expertise are open encompassing all research in the broad areas of regenerative medicine, cell and tissue engineering, and cell and organ transplantation. This may include research in the areas of gene therapy, neuroregeneration and degeneration, biomaterials science and engineering, drug delivery, immunology, and stem cell biology.
Primary faculty academic appointment will be in the School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences with potential joint appointments in the School of Medicine, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering, and other Colleges/Schools, as appropriate.
The School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences is part of a new academic health partnership that will further distinguish Rowan and Virtua Health as leaders in patient care, innovation, and research and clinical discovery. Consisting of multiple institutes and academic departments in Biomedical Engineering and life sciences, the School is one of twelve Colleges and Schools at Rowan University uniquely positioned to integrate engineering, life sciences, and medicine to be a national leader in health care discovery and innovation, leveraging the synergy of research and patient care. As such, joint appointments in science, engineering, and medicine commensurate with experience are expected.
