The laboratory of Dr. David Ginsburg at the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) at the University of Michigan is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow. The lab is supported by HHMI and UM funding. Multiple previous postdoctoral fellows have gone on to careers in academic biomedicine and in industry and biotech. The research interests of the Ginsburg lab focus on the molecular genetics of inherited bleeding and blood clotting disorders and the cell biology of protein secretion. Previous trainees have successfully competed for NIH K08, and K99 awards, and fellowships from other agencies including the AHA and National Hemophilia Foundation. You will report directly to Dr. Ginsburg.
Salary will be determined by years or quality of experience.
Experimental responsibilities will include:
Molecular biology, PCR, DNA and RNA purification, plasmid cloning
Gene expression analysis by qPCR, western blotting, FACS, and immunohistochemistry
Mammalian cell culture with both immortalized cell lines and primary cells
Retroviral or adenoviral techniques
Mouse genetics and animal physiology tools may also be employed
Non-experimental responsibilities will include:
Work/collaborate with other postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in and outside of the laboratory.
Mentor undergraduates and graduate students
Assist PI with writing manuscripts and grants
Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree in fields related to biomedical sciences
Publications in high profile journals as a primary author
