POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to join the Abudayyeh-Gootenberg Lab and develop genome editing, gene therapy, and cellular engineering methods for exploring and treating models of aging in the blood and brain. Will apply novel genome editing and transcription factor-based tools for understanding the mechanisms of rejuvenation and cellular reprogramming across multiple tissues. Successful completion of the project will generate programmable tools for cellular rejuvenation and potential treatments for aging-based diseases. Responsibilities will include molecular cloning, protein design, mammalian cell culture, pooled screening, flow cytometry and cell harvesting, and animal work for in vivo phenotype screening; working closely with research technicians, students, and principal investigators; and engaging with the scientific community through collaborations, conference talks, and publications.

The position is ideal for someone interested in making a major impact in the cellular reprogramming and aging fields. The AbuGoot lab is a fast-paced and energetic group working at the frontier of molecular tool development and aging. The lab actively encourages creativity and leadership from its postdoctoral fellows, who generally will lead multiple projects and teams within the lab.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in biological sciences, engineering, or related field; experience with animal work and molecular biology; self-motivation; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, team-oriented setting; strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills; a desire to be an integral part of a cutting-edge research team; and ability to execute detailed technical protocols meticulously.
