Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Division of Plastic Surgery has a 2-year postdoctoral position open. Work will be focused on translational research in breast immunology and cancer reconstruction. The person should have experience performing basic science bench work, with a focus on immunology assays. Postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for recruiting patients from clinic, collecting blood samples, processing blood, harvesting peripheral blood monocytes and performing immunologic assays such as ELISAs, ELISPots, flow cytometry, tetramer assays, rt-PCR, gene expression analysis, cell culture and tissue processing/staining. This job will also allow the opportunity to co-author multiple clinical papers focused on breast reconstruction and plastic surgery.
Conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques.
To write grants and compete for funding
To supervise students and other techs working in the lab
To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research done in the lab
PhD or MD with training in biomedical engineering or muscle/nerve physiology
Experience performing basic science bench work, with a focus on immunology assays
