The Movement Disorders division in the Department of Neurology at Stanford University seeks a neurologist with fellowship training in movement disorders to join the Department as Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator Line. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The Stanford Movement Disorders Center (SMDC) is a comprehensive clinical and research center whose goal is excellence in clinical care of all movement disorders and state-of-the-art research. The SMDC uses interdisciplinary teams from Neurology, Neurosurgery, Behavioral Neurology, Neuropsychology, Psychiatry, Pathology, Human Genetics, Otolaryngology, Rehabilitation, and Social Work within or Neuromodulation Center, the Stanford Balance Center, the Huntington's disease and Ataxia clinics, and the Lewy Body dementia Center of Excellence. There are active interdisciplinary clinical and translational research programs in brain electrophysiology, neuroimaging, neurogenetics, cognitive neurology, autonomic disorders, sleep neurology, gait and balance disorders, and human motor control. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to collaborate with these and the wide range of clinical, translational and basic science programs offered at Stanford and individual programmatic development is encouraged.

Responsibilities include comprehensive clinical care of a wide spectrum of movement disorders, performing chemodenervation for movement disorders and spasticity, evaluating patients for deep brain stimulation (DBS), initial and subsequent DBS programming, teaching of medical students, residents and clinical fellows, clinical research and clinical trials.

The major criterion for appointment to the Clinician Educator Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The successful applicant should have Board certification or eligibility from the ABPN, documentation of completing a fellowship in Movement Disorders, eligibility for a California medical license, and suitable clinical and teaching experience.
