The Yang Laboratory uses molecular, cellular, genetic and genomic approaches to investigate critical roles of cell signaling in embryonic morphogenesis and adult physiology. We mainly focus on the mammalian limb, skeleton and liver, and we are exploiting these systems to explore human biology and address the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases including cancer. The Research Assistant carries out experiments at the direction of the Principal Investigator, utilizing specific molecular and cellular biology laboratory techniques. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with lab maintenance.
This position has a term appointment of 1 year from day of hire, with the possibility of extension.
Carries out experiments at the direction of the Principal Investigator, utilizing specific molecular, cellular and genetic research techniques.
Assists with experimental design, setting up protocols, and developing laboratory techniques.
Collaborates with other lab members on processing, organizing, summarizing, and analyzing data.
Reports results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet, or statistical software programs and platforms.
Trains and oversees the work of others in laboratory techniques and procedures, as assigned.
Assists with laboratory maintenance and contributes to unit goals.
Contributes to a culture of inclusivity and respect.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

College degree in a related discipline.
At least one year of directly related work experience.
Possess a strong background of biochemical studies with demonstrated experience in mouse husbandry, genotyping, mammalian tissue culture, mouse tissue harvesting, processing, immunohistochemistry, and experience of DNA, RNA processing, Western blotting analyses.
Experience in mouse colony maintenance, embryo dissection and processing.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check at hire.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred.
Experience in general laboratory management including housekeeping duties, and inter-laboratory communications.
