POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESThe Burk Laboratory of the Pediatrics Department is one of the foremost HPV labs in the world. The main focus of the Burk laboratory is to understanding how evolution of human papillomaviruses (HPV) has resulted in the emergence of HPV types that are highly pathogenic and cause multiple cancers in humans (e.g., cervix, head & neck, skin). The studies of the HPV genome are translational in nature (i.e., contribute to knowledge about how to use HPV testing to prevent cervix cancer). The Burk Laboratory is seeking a Research Technician A to assist with a research project that involves the molecular genetic characterization of HPV genomes from clinical samples.
